Throwback Thursday: Mini Class of 1976

..

Welcome back, Minis.

How is everything so far? It is a strange time in the year for all of us: for some, a breath of fresh air after a grueling first semester; for others, the beginning of an even harder one. Whether you're overwhelmed by all this change or taking it in stride, it's probably at least a little hectic for everyone involved. Hang in there, guys.

Another thing: our Manning Park trip is close on the horizon. Are you all geared up and ready? Some of you may not be. It's true - we don’t doubt that many of you are trying on last year’s winter gear only to realize that your ski boots are two sizes too small. Panic, panic, panic. If you haven't checked yet, do it now!!!

All this to say, the beginning of a new semester and the buzz of Manning Park may have you a little dizzy about the future. Luckily, the Muse can give you a little break from all this with a short trip to the past for our second Throwback Thursday.

It is 1976. You aren't around. Most of your teachers aren't around, either (at most, they're infants). To the teenagers of the time, though, this is the greatest era in human history. Queen has a newly released smash hit called “Bohemian Rhapsody”, disco is everywhere (yes, even the straight-laced Mini students are getting their groove on!), and Apple's first buyable computer, weighing in at a whopping 6 pounds, has just hit the market. A truly vibrant time.

Meanwhile, 15 Prince of Wales Mini School seniors, all slightly resembling the Beatles, are posing with their teachers for a class photo. The girls have beautiful, blown-out locks; the guys have beautiful, blown-out locks to rival those of the girls. You can see flannels, suit jackets, funky oversized glasses galore - all the seniors are dressed to near-perfection. And each one of their outfits is complete with a nice big 70's grin: a grin that comes as they think of the sheer possibility their post-secondary future holds.

Note: Our next Throwback Thursday will be on February 11, as the editors will be ripping up the slopes at Manning Park next week and so won't be able to make a post. See you in two weeks, Minis!

-Haris, Ella, and Sophie
