We hope everything has been going well for you since the start of semester 2! This time of year – with the constant rain and chilling winds – can be tough, but hey, at least the sun is starting to set after 5 PM lately. Just another month of this and it's pretty much spring, so in the meantime, stay as warm as you've always been under those jackets and try not to get sick.
Speaking of cold, how was Manning? Hopefully you all had a good time, full of homemade food, late nights, and the best gossip. Despite the less-than-ideal snow conditions and a few too many hospital visits (wishing you all a speedy recovery!), we editors have declared it as one of our favourite Mini trips yet. Can't wait for that photo-board to be full of new pictures!
Anyone interested in hearing a fun fact? Here's one: Manning Park Resort first opened in the late 1950’s following the construction of the Hope-Princeton highway. It's been around even longer than the Mini! That means some of the people in this upcoming photo may have once also skied at the big MPR, though it didn't become an actual Mini trip until 2025.
Well, you know the drill by now. For this week's Throwback Thursday, we're taking a trip back to the 80’s – the era of big hair, spandex, and high-waisted jeans. Personal computers have just been launched, MTV was only recently born, and Michael Jackson's just come out with - you guessed it - “Thriller”. If you're a high schooler at this time, life is pretty darn good.
Below is the class of 1983, filled with a vibrant mix of people: some in cool shades, others shirtless, and one of whom has been said to look like a hybrid between Ben Elizur and Dario Sedaghat (Ms. I’s words, not ours). Can you guess who she was referring to? Posing somewhat awkwardly in a park, this group of 25 has so much in store for them. Each face exudes a brimming, distinctly 80's character and energy, and it really makes you wonder what these people are up to now. While we may not know for sure, we can only assume they all moved on to great things.
Enjoy your four-day weekend, Minis, and stay tuned for next week's post!
